Staying fit when you’re 50 and above can be challenging especially if you’re not the diligent type when it comes to exercising.
But I found out that staying active as much as I can in this age is essential.
I discovered that the more I do exercise, work myself a sweat and go hiking as much as possible the more that I have maintained my energy and stamina.
Yet, it hasn’t always been an easy feat to do especially if you’re swamped with work and you have domestic matters to attend to.
Zumba
This is my favorite go-to exercise and I love that it incorporates dance routines. It’s not just mainly moving your body, but it also include dance steps. I like how it can really work out a sweat and really flex your whole body.
The secret to getting the most from Zumba? Execute each move well so you’ll feel the sweat really trickling down your forehead and body! I emphasized this because I observed that some people just follow along without really getting the hang of it.
You really must feel the groove, so to speak. The music encourages you to move but the moves or routines will challenge you to carry on! Of course, it’s a great bonus if the instructor is very good!
This exercise can be done even when you’re at home since there’s a plethora of YouTube videos about Zumba dance and Zumba workout.
Yoga
I learned basic yoga poses during that time when I was active with attending fitness classes in the gym. At first, I really had a hard time. The poses were very challenging to execute! And to think those were just the basic ones. However, it got quite easier when I practiced them more frequently.
It’s amazing how yoga can stretch each limb of your body and how it can prevent injury and muscle soreness. You’ll feel that your joints function much better, too. It also feels so good as if you’re attuning yourself to your inner side.
Yoga can also be done even when you’re just at home because thanks to YouTube, you can access endless videos these days.
These fitness routines keep me energized and motivates me to become a better version of myself. Age isn’t a hindrance to what we can do! We could choose to be active or not, it’s up to us but of course, considering that we’ve reached 50 is a great bonus so we might as well do everything that we can to enhance and make the most of it!
